The Lemosho Route is a scenic, untouched route and a home for a lot of wild game. The two first days of the route are spent a bit away from the crowd so it's a perfect option for trekkers seeking a quieter route to start off with.

We start off from the West to the Shira Plateau to the seldom visited Moir Hut, moving forward to Lava Tower before descending to the Barranco Camp. Next, we ascend the Great Barranco Wall, an inspiring and demanding rock scramble followed by the approach of Uhuru Summit from Barafu or Kossovo Camp and the ridge that border on the Southeast Valley. This part of the route presents amazing views of the Mawenzi Peak and the breathtaking volcanic cone of Kilimanjaro.

After taking photos at the summit, we advance West to outlook the breathtaking landscapes of the Shira Plateau and the Western Breach before descending to our crater camp neighboring the very interesting Furtwangler Glacier.

  • Machame (8 days)

Machame traverses through five varied climatic zones. This route offers beathtaking scenery and can at times be steep and demanding. We acclimitize ourselves by sleeping low and trekking high to minimize the risk of altitude sickness.

Our journey starts at Machame, the charming mountain village at Kilimanjaro's south side. Into the moorland zone, coming from the Machame forest, we climb up and over rocky terrain and eventually arrive at the Shira Plateau. We then move on to the southern face of Kibo, trek the Lava Tower for absolutely beautiful panoramas, advance to the Great Barranco Wall, a demanding and exciting rock scramble, and then aim for Uhuru Summit from Kossovo or Barafu Camp and the ridge of the Southeast valley. We experience amazing views of Kilimanjaro's remnant volcanic cone and Mawenzi Peak while climbing from Barafu.

  • Rongai / Loitokitok route (8 days)

This is the only path to apporach Kibo from. Originally the path began at the Kenyan border, but recently the trail shifted to the east and now it starts at the Tanzanian town in Loitokitok, after which the new path has been named – the Rongai Route.

Where humans do not frequently go, animals often do – and because this route is seldom visited by trekkers, it is likely that you will encounter wildlife. Also, the semi to alpine desert zones, mooreland and rainforest is covered by a wide array of plants..

  • Mt Meru (6 days)

Mt Meru – The Black Mountain or ”Oldo inyo Orok” in Maasai, is an active stratovolcano located in the vast Arusha National Park, 45 kilometers from the town of Arusha and 80 km west of Mt Kilimanjaro.

At a height of 14977 ft (4565 metres) Mt Meru is the second highest peak in Tanzania and the fifth highest in Africa. It holds alpine desert zones, moorland, heather and forests. It's considered to be one of the greatest assets of Tanzania.

The crater wall to the east of Mt Meru was ruptured by violent explosions 250 000 years ago. It is likely that the explosions were caused by water from the crater lake seeping into the wall or the vent becoming blocked. This caused the whole eastern wall of the crater to be blown away, sending a mass of rocks, mud, lava and water raining down the eastern side of the mountain across the Sanya Plains almost as far as Moshi, covering some of the lower parts of Mt Kilimanjaro.
